POSITION: CLIENT SUPPORT WORKER
Casual and Full-time Positions
POSITION SUMMARY
As a vital member of the client programs support team, the successful candidates will assist with the following duties for clients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia:
- Assist in the provision of social and therapeutic activities and programs
- Assist clients with ADLs and personal care in both the Day Away and In-Home Respite Program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a “team player”
- Knowledge of Voicemail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, and Excel
KEY DUTIES:
- Provides personal care and assistance with activities of daily living as necessary (eating, grooming, toileting, dressing, etc.)
- Provides activation and motivation for the client (e.g., music, exercise, creative endeavours, etc.)
- Per policy and procedure, is responsible for executing DNR orders as legally documented
- Maintains open lines of communication
- Maintains a safe and secure environment at all times
- Attends the van during client transportation
- Plans crafts and activities, purchases supplies, prepares and cleans up work areas and assists clients as required
- Participates in staff meetings and shares pertinent client information with the Client Programs Manager
- Maintains open lines of communication with families, caregivers and other staff and completes necessary paperwork and record keeping
- Individually accountable for the provision of basic care and safety of the client
- Establishes a trustful relationship with the caregiver so he/she feels comfortable leaving the client support worker with their loved one for a period of time
- Performs light housework duties upon request, provided it will not interfere with care and safety of the client
- Provides palliative care
- Remains current on information and research related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia
- Maintains confidentiality of all client information
- Maintains strong client advocacy while providing client centered care
- Ability to adapt in a changing workplace environment
SALARY: Starting at $14.07/hr increasing to $15.61/hr after 250 hours and to $15.72/hr after 1,950 hours worked
