The Speakers' Bureau
The Speakers' Bureau is a group of dedicated volunteers who donate their time to give presentations on issues pertaining to Alzheimer's Disease.

All of our speakers are extremely knowledgeable on the subject of Alzheimer's Disease.  The speakers share knowledge  from first hand experiences.  We are very fortunate to have numerous professionals (doctors, lawyers, long-term care personnel) and professional training and education on hand for speaking engagements.

Presentations can be tailored to suit the subject / audience (e.g. general overview, long-term placement issues, research and caregiver concerns).  The length of the presentation depends on the subject(s) your organization wishes to cover.

The Speakers' Bureau is a free service of the Alzheimer Society to help promote public awareness.  However, being a non-profit organization, we always welcome donations.

"Remember Me" Children's Series
Four sessions to assist children ages 7 through 12 years in coping with, and in understanding a loved one with Alzheimer's disease.  Learning occurs through games, activities, books, and videos, facilitated by society staff.  We provide beverages, snacks and fun.  The last session is a pizza party!

School Education Series   "Talking With Children and Teens about Alzheimer's Disease"
This education series has been targeted to two specific school groups, elementary - grades 4/5 and secondary  - grade 9/10.  The program advocates awareness and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and the special challenges that family members encounter.

Information is presented to the students by qualified staff or trained volunteers.  Presenters encourage full participation by students using an interactive style to enable the class to discuss their feelings and thoughts about the disease.

By providing this open and honest format in the schools we hope to increase awareness of Alzheimer's Disease and to sensitize students to the effects of it on the victim and the family.

Presentations are approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Information Sessions
The Society will conduct presentations pertaining to Alzheimer's disease, and the support services available within the agency and the community at large.  These public forums are scheduled throughout the year at various areas in the city and the county.

Lectures and workshops are presented to education facilities (College and University), nursing agencies, church, community and service clubs.

Enhancing Care Program
Through interactive workshops a society facilitator assist a multi - disciplinary team from the facility, to enhance the quality of care provided to the residents.
