World Alzheimer’s Day 2007

The first 65km run across the County event.
It was a life changing experience. A special thanks to those individuals that will always have a place in my heart. The support, time and effort that they put in to making this a world class event.

The runners who joined me that day were:

Darcy Hagath, Les Feher, Keith Jones, Brad Lowery, Anne Hall and Maria Eid.

The Chrysler Canada Relay team, headed up by the President Reid Bigland, Matt Brannagan, Stuart Schorr, Shawn Searcy, Tyler Keay, Erica Sartori, Jack Sulymka, and Dale Laliberte.

A thank-you, to all the runners who joined us in Amherstburg, at the finish in Lakeshore and the Cross Country Teams from General Amherst, Villanova, and Western High Schools (awesome runners, awesome kids they raised our spirits)

The Run

The weather was a steamy 84F but hotter in some areas. The route agreed to was 69km in length and we tried to pass by all the high schools in the region to get the cross-country teams out and raise awareness about the caregiver programs offered in Essex County. This day could never have happened without the sincere efforts of what was an Olympic class road crew. The caravan that road through out the day with the runners was two to five police cruisers, an OPP officer on bike and incredibly an OPP officer on roller blades. 2008 Chrysler Ram 3500 (critical to hydration for runners, the flat bed was invaluable), 2008 Dodge Caravan and the most important vehicle of all a graciously donated 45 ft motor home from Project Life Saver that carried the very the loud music for us to run as well as an air conditioned spot to rest within.
