At the Alzheimer Society Windsor – Essex County volunteers make our heart beat… they bring life and vitality to numerous programs and projects. Our volunteers make our Chapter extremely successful and well respected. Through their generous donation of time, volunteers assist us in a variety of ways. Whether it be a one-on-one situation such as Day Away, Volunteer Companion Program, or helping with fundraising and public awareness.
Volunteering for the Alzheimer Society Windsor - Essex County will make a
difference in the life of a person in your community.
- You will develop new friendships and give caregivers a much needed break.
- You will provide meaningful interaction with individuals who has Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia.
- You will meet new friends while using your social and creative skills.
- You will become better educated about Alzheimer Disease and other related dementia.

Day Away Assistant
Volunteers assist clients and staff in a variety of activities in a pleasant atmosphere.
Commitment – approximately 4-6 hours per week
Day Away Drivers
Volunteers assisted by staff members, transport Day Away clients to and from the program.
A vehicle is provided.
Commitment – approximately 3 hours per week.
NEW! Volunteer Companion Program
Volunteers provide short-term relief for caregivers, while providing companionship and socialization to the person with Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia.
Commitment – approximately 2 hours per week minimum six month commitment.
Public Awareness and Education
Volunteers staff displays, distribute literature and answer questions at various events scheduled throughout the year.
Commitment – varies depending on scheduled events.
Speakers Bureau and School Program
Volunteers are trained to give presentations to service clubs, church groups, organizations and schools.
Commitment – varies depending on number of requests.
Event Committee
Utilize your creative talents while participating in a variety of special events designed to raise funds vital to research and programming.

Event Coordinators
Commitment – approximately 4 – 8 hours per month.
Individuals organize fundraiser's, education programs and volunteer activities.
Standard screening processes apply to all potential volunteers.
